DEAR OH DEAR

I have been really neglecting my blog, it is almost a year since I last posted. Been a busy year what with moving and things. Live is great, the house is huge and I have been able to expand, and spread my yarn stash around, despite the fact I have a 'Hobby' room. Isn't it amazing how yarn and fibre can find its' way into other rooms, all on its' own lol

I have finally decided to try my hand at dyeing fibre and yarn with the view of selling it. I've already dyed some fibre and yarn, pictures to follow. And I am hoping to get a stall at the Woolfish Festival to see what Joe Public thinks of my colours. I am using some natural dyes for subtle colours and Ashford dyes for brighter effects.

GOT A NEW TOY :-D

I have got myself a Brother KH965, I'm hoping to be able to keep my young grandson in cute little sweaters. Just need to master using the knitting machine first.

I have been busy knitting various things recently, by hand.
Photobucket
My first attempt at following a crochet pattern.
Photobucket
Socks for my mum, can't remember the name of the yarn or the pattern.
Photobucket
A mini Clapotis, for my mum, knitted using 2 skein Lornas Laces sock yarn.
Photobucket
A Yuletide Gnome :-D
Photobucket
The pattern is Rose Red, was given the pattern and yarn as part of the swap. Lovely colours, and it actually looks ok on me. The yarn is Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend.
Photobucket
Mitts from Noro Designer Mini Knits, I used Noro Silk Garden Lite, 1 skein for both and they are mine hehehe
Photobucket
And finally a cute wee Gansey Style sweater for my grandson. This is actually darker IRL. I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino.

My wee grandson will 1 year old next month, doesn't seem like almost a year since he entered our lives. I babysit once a week and it is amazing how much he has grown. He dances to the Scooby Doo tune and various adverts as well. He can get from A to B very quickly on his hands and knees. And if he doesn't want his lunch he shakes his hands in front of him as if to say no, no, no. He is quite a character .

OOPS DIDN'T REALISE IT HAD BEEN SO LONG

I've been busy, my DD gave birth to my first grandchild on 22nd December 2007 He is gorgeous. So I am spending a lot of time with them both.
Photobucket I have also managed to get a few projects started and finished.
Photobucket This was a pattern in Knitting Lace Triangles, I used approx. 1 1/2balls Trekking XXL sock yarn.
Photobucket Photobucket A pressie to my DD, a felted bag using the Noni Carpet bag pattern and Cascade Yarn.
Photobucket Photobucket I knitted this using a pattern that was in the Winter IK. I used Sirdar Suggly DK and I'm pleased with the result, it is lovely and soft.
Photobucket I used Sirdar Baby Bamboo for this top, the pattern is in Big Girl Knits. I'm not happy with it, the neckline is too low and shows off my bra a treat.

Photobucket Photobucket Another scarf from VLT, this time using Rowan Kidsilk Haze in Jelly.
Photobucket Knitted this using Patons FAB DK, can't remember where the pattern came from.
Photobucket Ozzy was a pattern from Let's Knit and I used Patons 100% cotton DK and 4ply knitted together.
Photobucket Finished this at 2am this morning, you know how it is when you are almost finished, you can't put it down. The pattern is Clapotis and I used Rowan Cotton Jeans in Sail Cloth, I got it in a sale and I'm pleased with how it has turned out :-D

So that is what I have been knitting for the past 4 months. I have also decided to try my hand at quilting but more of that another day. I think this is more than enough for anyone to read.

More finished projects :D

Well I stayed up till 1am last night, just to finish the DB Alphabet blanket. I used 13 balls of DB Baby Cashmerino but I felt the expense was worth it, the blanket is lovely and soft and as I said to my daughter, it can become a family heirloom :D

It's Trekking XXl sock yarn but don't ask which one, I can't remember. The pattern is Waving Lace socks from 25 Favourite Socks.
I also bought the Debbie Bliss Essential Baby book and knitted the Hooded Carrying Bag, though I prefer to call it babys' sleeping bag. This was knitted using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran.

FELTED MITTENS

I used the pattern from my new Felted Knits book and the Patons Jet to knit a pair of very large mittens.

I thought I had made them too big. Anyhoo I finished knitting them in two days and only used 3 balls of the Jet. I decided to risk throwing them in the washing machine despite what the book said about using a top loader and constantly checking the felting process, which is something you can't do with a front loader. This is the result

They are a lovely fit and so snug and warm :D
